Turner Prize in 2008

The Daily Post has announced that Tate Liverpool will be hosting the prestigious Turner Prize in 2008, Capital of Culture year. The prestigious art prize is being hosted outside of London for the first time in its 24 year history.

This can only be a good thing for all concerned. Liverpool will benefit from having British art’s most famous prize-orientated exhibition mounted in the city (in the same year as the Liverpool Biennial and John Moores Exhibition), Tate Liverpool will see its visitor figures increase, and the prize itself may be invigorated by its change in venue.
