Chamber members and staff had a great day out at the opening day of the world-famous Aintree race meeting on Thursday (12 April).

This annual trip is one of the Chamber’s most popular networking events. As usual, it was sold out weeks before.

As well as providing Chamber members with a great opportunity to entertain guests and do a spot of networking, it’s also a lot of fun for all involved. Hats were worn, bets placed, fine wines and ales consumed. Some even won some of their money back!

Companies running multiple servers are increasingly stretched to cover their management and running costs. However, the costs of virtualisation are coming down rapidly and are now in reach of most small organisations. A free online seminar this Thursday (19 April) deals with virtualisation and the related technology. It will feature presentations and a panel discussion with guest speakers Zafar Chaudry, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and Mark Simpson, from Griffiths Waite.

The webinar will demonstrate how service oriented technologies have been deployed in two different business scenarios.

Server virtualisation is a key technology that underpins Grid computing. It allows applications to run where the resource is available. This can significantly increase resource utilisation. One large organisation implemented virtualisation and went from over 50 servers to 3, making an immediate saving of £100,000.
