Morgan Foundation launches Entrepreneur Awards 2007

The search is on to find the region’s best new businesses and young entrepreneurs and it is backed by prize money of £100,000.

The Morgan Foundation - a charity established by Steve Morgan, renowned businessman and founder of Redrow, one of the UK’s most successful housebuilders - has launched the Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards 2007.

There are three categories: Best New Business, for companies less than three years old; Best Potential Business and Best Young Entrepreneur, up to and including the age of 21.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes of up to £50,000, £12,000 and £10,000 respectively, and there are second and third place prizes in each category too.

The Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards are designed to encourage entrepreneurs in the Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Wales area and to discover and recognise a new generation of business role models.

Steve Morgan said that he hoped the Awards and the cash prizes on offer would provide inspiration and practical help for new entrepreneurs.

“These are meaningful Awards, which are intended to help young entrepreneurs and new businesses,” he said. “We wanted the Awards to be different by placing serious prize money behind them to act as a catalyst for businesses in Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Wales.”

From the initial entries a shortlist of candidates will be invited to an interview with a panel of distinguished judges and the results will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.

Steve added: “I would urge young businesses and young entrepreneurs to ‘have a go’ and enter the Awards as it is intended that the prize money should be used as a serious boost in their business aims.”
