Chamber AGM 2007
Liverpool Chamber held its 157th AGM on Tuesday 1 July. The meeting was opened by the Chamber’s President Lord Derby. During the formalities Lord Derby was re- elected as president, David Wade Smith as Chairman, Ed Oliver as Vice Chair and Sara Wilde as Deputy Vice Chair.

In his speech David Wade Smith noted that the Chamber’s financial results are particularly pleasing  and the Chamber’s sphere of influence is growing, enabling an increasing influence in civic and economic affairs and a growing and active membership.

Chief Executive, Jack Stopforth’s speech praised the hard work by chamber staff in bringing about the rapid turnaround in the Chamber’s financial position in the past two years. He commented in the projected increase in turnover in the forthcoming year and the success in bringing the 2008 BCC conference to Liverpool.

Queensway Tunnel:

A 28-day notice has been issued for a full closure of the tunnel from Monday August 13 until Friday August 16 for maintenance and cleaning.

Climate Change Northwest Website Has Now Launched

Climate Change Northwest is the new regional website which explores the opportunities and challenges that a changing climate presents to England’s Northwest. The website is the first point of call for anyone looking for information about climate change in the region. The website is:

  • the online home of ‘Rising to the Challenge - A Climate Change Action Plan for England’s Northwest 2007-09′ and will provide regular progress updates on activities taking place in the Northwest to ensure the delivery of the region’s first climate change action plan;
  • a regional forum through which other complimentary climate change and energy activities, news and events will be highlighted and exemplified throughout the Northwest and beyond, and
  • a unique portal linking to information and advice relating to climate change and energy issues in the Northwest.
