Business Tax - Your Views Wanted

Jack Stopforth, Liverpool Chamber’s CEO, has been invited to speak at a Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) knowledge event in September 2007. This will provide him with a forum in which to communicate the views of the membership concerning the business tax regime. HMRC are genuinely keen to know how they and their services are perceived by the business community. They would also welcome feedback on how tax regulation is affecting your business.

We would urge you to complete our brief questionnaire in order to supply Jack with the information needed to form a picture of your views with which to inform HMRC. Naturally, the more responses that we receive the greater the impact your views will have.

Visit the Mersey Economy site to access the survey and select SURVEYS.

Chamber ‘Virus’ Update

We mentioned last week a suspicious pop up appearing on one of Liverpool Chamber’s main website pages, and the possibility it could be a virus.

We’ve since heard from the people who host the site, who say:

“After checking with our colleagues here it seems this activex prompt does only appear if your PC does not have the Microsoft Data Access Services Add On installed. In some PCs this add-on is already installed by Windows depending on the version you have.

However this cannot be a virus, it is some MS drive required to run some of your code on the website and users have to install the Add On as is required by the browser.”

Concerned visitors can get a Microsoft security update here.

If you are anyway unsure about the message, the best advice is to simply ignore it. Nothing will happen unless you click the message.
