The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is seeking your views on the EU Urban Transport Green Paper, published on 25th September 2007.  The EU, since it’s 2006 Review of the 2001 Transport Policy White Paper, has been consulting on EU action to support urban transport infrastructure.  This Green Paper will feed into the EU action plan on urban transport, which will be delivered in autumn 2008.

This Green Paper will report on issues such as safety and security standards, use and support of technology and the development of intelligent transport systems. This is an important consultation and with the input of your views, the BCC aims to produce a considered UK position in response and define the potential impacts of the Paper on UK urban transport policy.

In order for Liverpool Chamber to give a response to BCC within their timescale, your comments to us would be appreciated as soon as possible and no later than 16 January 2008 please submit these on policy@liverpoolchamber.org.uk

Your Views On An Expanded Heathrow

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is seeking your views on the Government’s consultation on adding capacity at Heathrow Airport. The UK has campaigned strongly for airport expansion and Heathrow, as the UK’s busiest airport and only true hub, is crucial to the economy’s continued success. As it stands Heathrow is falling behind its major competitors. Amsterdam Schipol, for instance serves 21 UK airports compared with only nine served by Heathrow. London, as the world’s premier financial district, is also heavily reliant on its international connectivity and Heathrow underpins this success. It is for these reasons that the BCC is seeking your views on the proposed expansion of Heathrow.

Whilst Liverpool does not currently have a direct link to Heathrow this consultation might well be one way in which the role of regional airports feeding into major hubs can be further debated.

Liverpool Chamber needs to submit its response to BCC by 15 February so a response to Liverpool Chamber by the end of January 2008 would be helpful.

Office PartyYes, it’s that time of year again - when we all go out on the lash with our colleagues. Good wholesome fun, or a recipe for disaster? A time to bond with our valued co-workers, or a chance to tell your boss exactly what you think and make an inappropriate proposition to Dorothy from Accounts?

Well, here’s a handy list of tips on how to survive the office party.

Although mostly common sense, it’s worth keeping them in mind before you break out the Old Spice or your GHD hair straighteners. They include:

  • not getting too ‘affectionate’
  • drinking sensibly
  • remain your usual professional self
  • remember you’ll be working with everyone again in the New Year.

Read the list here over on Dumb Little Man.

Or, you can throw caution to the wind, dress up like the 118 blokes and dance on a table. S’up to you.

Chat Noir screen grabA busy day on the blog yesterday meant we didn’t have time to post any festive frippery.

So, here’s the first of some posts to hopefully get you into the Christmas spirit. I mean, it’s less than a fortnight away now!

This is a nice little game called Chat Noir. Must be German or something.

Anyway, the aim is to try and stop the cat from exiting the board of dots by blocking his path. Click on a dot to make it impassible. Then the cat will try and find an alternative exit. And judging by the games we’ve played, succeed every time.

Play Chat Noir here.
