Liverpool Chamber is pleased to announce its Charity of the Year for 2009 - Nugent Care.
As the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year, Nugent Care will have unrivalled access to the Liverpool business community and will receive the focus of the Chamber’s corporate charitable donations.
The charity is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse in the city and specialises in providing care for vulnerable children and adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and social problems. Its services include support for homeless people, a drug intervention service, volunteering schemes, support for Deaf people and a material aid project supporting people in financial need.
Jack Stopforth, Chief Executive of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce commented: “The Chamber’s staff panel felt very strongly that Nugent Care and Liverpool Chamber could gain a great deal from working in partnership, not just in terms of fundraising, although I hope that we will be able to do plenty of that! But we also hope that the relationship will be fruitful in terms of offering a wide range of volunteering opportunities to Chamber staff and enabling Nugent Care to develop relationships throughout the city’s business community.”
Director of Business Development at Nugent Care, Paul Doocey, said:
“It’s a great privilege for Nugent Care to be the first Chamber Charity of the Year and I’m absolutely delighted by the news. The opportunity to work with Liverpool Chamber is extremely exciting for us and during the current economic climate, it is perhaps more important than ever for charities and businesses to work together.”
