PM’s Visit - A Clarification

A few days ago, the Prime Minister Gordon Brown came to town. There appears to have been some confusion as to Liverpool Chamber’s role in this visit.
So, just to clear things up, we’ve put together this statement:
Rex Makin’s column in The Echo on Friday 16th January suggested that the Chamber charged members and others £20 to attend the reception for Gordon Brown during the PM’s recent visit to Liverpool. We would like to make it clear that while we did invite businesses to meet the PM, the charge of £20 was levied by the Labour Party and not the Chamber of Commerce.
While we do levy a charge to attend many of our fantastic networking events, in this case, all we did was help publicise the PM’s visit to local businesses.
