The Variety Club is staging a Tribute Dinner to former Liverpool and Scotland legend Ron Yeats (The Colossus).
Ron made his Liverpool FC debut in August 1961 and played until 1970. He captained the side when they won promotion out of the Second Division. He also captained them when they won the FA Cup for the first time in 1965.
This dinner is to raise funds to buy a Sunshine Coach in Ron’s name for a disadvantaged school on Merseyside. KLots of Ron’s team mates will be there as well as other celebrities.
The compair will be broadcaster and journalist John Kieth. John was amongst the small number of journalists to gain access to the club’s backroom staff, including Bill Shankly.
