Training delivery has begun with Aim Higher GM for ‘Access to Medicine’ courses.

Twenty Year 12 students from Greater Merseyside were given the opportunity to take part in an exciting new ‘Aimhigher Access to Medicine’ project on 27th June.

The project, in partnership with Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, provided a comprehensive day of activities to support pupils interested in studying medicine as they aim to gain a place at University.

The day, delivered by a team of qualified doctors, included sessions to help students prepare their UCAS applications for medical school, information on education testing, interview preparation and techniques as well as “insider knowledge” of the system.

Support Claire House and have a great day out over AND under the River Mersey on July 19

The  Under and Over the Mersey Event is in celebration of Mersey tunnel’s 75th anniversary. It’s  a fantastic family day out no matter what the age!

Attractions range from the Lantern Company parade,  celebrity countdowns and appearances (including Stan Boardman, Jan Molby, Mike McCarteny, Pete Price and Hollyoaks stars -amongst others), Samba bands, Children’s funfair, face painters, comedians and fabulous spot prizes.

And that’s without the walk under the tunnel and back again over on the Ferry!

On a serious note, ALL of the proceeds from this event come to Claire House which makes this potentially the biggest fundraiser for us this year.  Claire House Children’s Hospice provides a lifeline to families whose child / children have life limiting illnesses at a staggering cost of £200,000 per month to remain operational.  They don’t receive any guaranteed government funding and if they do it is minimal.  So by coming along you are helping such a wonderful cause by having a very memorable day!  Everyone really is a winner.
