Cycle Of Faiths To Mark National Interfaith Week
To mark National Interfaith week in Liverpool (15th – 21st November), people of all faiths and those interested learning about other faiths, are invited to a Cycle of Faiths in Sefton Park on Sunday November 15th from 12-3pm.
The event is organised by Faiths4Change, a joint-partnership organisation that engages with all faith communities, local people and agencies to transform communities through environmental action.
It will include guided cycle rides around the park (participants can bring their own bike or they will be available to hire on the day), and a chance to learn more about getting into cycling.
The “Try Out Bike Roadshow” will be coming especially to Liverpool from York, bringing an array of different bikes for adults and children to try out. Visitors will be greeted by a mega bike at the Aviary Café in Sefton Park at 12pm and the event will continue at the tennis courts until 3pm.
Visitors can cycle from Sefton Park, or take a pedi cab, to an interfaith service at the Sikh Gurdwara on Wellington Road in Wavertree at 12.30 and look inside two beautiful churches, St Agnes’ and St Clare’s from 2pm.
A cycle mechanic from Cycling Solutions will also be around to give people’s bikes a health check as well as Travelwise and Merseyside Cycle campaign who can advise on cycling initiatives in the local area. Bike hire will be available through local bike store and cycle hire, Bike Beat.
Annie Merry, from Faiths4Change, said, “This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to come and experience the fun and sociable side of cycling, as well as get some tips on reducing their carbon footprint and improving their health. Everyone is welcome to come along, and we hope that people of many different faiths will join together for what promises to be a fantastic day.”
Participants can get a free ticket for the Tryout Bike Roadshow and a discount on bike hire by calling Helen Dawson at Faiths4Change on 0151 705 2108 or email helen.dawson@liverpool.anglican.org
