BIONIC National Seminar - Sustainable Biofuels In Transport

BIONIC is a 3 year part EC funded project  promoting the production and use of
sustainably produced local biofuels. The  project is coordinated by Merseytravel and  covers Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain and  NW England.

Merseytravel are working with Lancashire County Council in NW region.

The morning session will provide delegates  with an overview of the BIONIC project which  will cover what the project has achieved since  2007, with a focus on the activities in the North West and promoting the forthcoming Best Practice Guidelines which are aimed specifcally at local authorities. They provide case studies and policy examples of how local authorities can promote the use of sustainably produced biofuels.

There will also be presentations outlining practical examples of high blend sustainable biofuel usage in the North West.

The afternoon session will focus on the role of sustainable biofuels in the development of LTP3.  The session will be led by industry practitioners.

Afternoon Session
Low carbon transport on Merseyside – LTP3 and the Low Carbon
Economy. How can we decarbonise transport and  what opportunites can we
develop in Merseyside.

This event is suitable for both private and public sector; Policy
makers, LTP practitioners, feet managers, Local Authorities, producers of sustainable biofuels, transport practitioners, Climate Change offcers.
