New Support Service For Merseyside Youngsters

Cats: News |
August 19th, 2010

connexions-logoHelp is at hand for young people across Merseyside who are receiving their exam results this month.

Greater Merseyside Connexions has today launched a new online Personal Adviser service so that young people can access confidential advice and support quicker than ever.

Trained personal advisers are now offering tailored, one-on-one advice via an online web chat facility, email, free phone and a free text message service.

Kieran Gordon, chief executive of Greater Merseyside Connexions, said: “The launch of our new online service comes at an important point in the calendar for many students. Opening exam results can often be a nerve-wracking experience and we are here to help by providing advice, face-to-face and online, to people seeking help to decide on their next steps.

“We know that young people, and increasingly adults, do so much online, from listening to music, shopping to socialising with friends, so we have extended our service to reflect this. The online service will remain open beyond exam results time and will be a year-round facility.

“We have 15 Connexions centres across Merseyside, but for some people travelling to their nearest centre can be expensive and time consuming, so this is the perfect solution. We will still provide personal and face-to-face advice through our high street Connexions centres but online services increase options for people to access our free service.

“We are excited by the opportunities the new online service will bring to so many people. We made it our business to consult with young people across the region in designing it.”

Those looking for advice and support can contact Greater Merseyside Connexions on 0800 0126 606 or by visiting

Personal advisers will be available from 9.00am - 5pm Monday-Friday, with plans to offer extended services until 8.00pm later this year.
