On Wednesday 30th November, public sector workers across the UK are staging a day of action. In Liverpool, there will be disruption to transport and a large march in the city centre.
Transport
- There will be no cross river ferry services
- There will be no cross river buses through the tunnels
- The trains will run a normal service
- Both tunnels will be closed except for emergency services.
- There are no anticipated road closures but there will be local disruption.
Route of march and possible traffic disruption
The protest march through Liverpool City Centre will assemble at the Pier Head and Derby Square at 11am. At 1130 the march commences through Mann Island - James Street (passing Derby Square to assimilate alternate assembly) - Lord Street - North John Street - Victoria Street - Whitechapel - Roe Street - Lime Street culminating in a rally at St George’s plateau at 12.30 for approximately 90 minutes.
The estimate is that there will be 15,000 participants on the march so by the time the start of the march reaches St George’s Hall the tail end should just be clearing the Pier Head. The main disruption will be the closure of the Strand while the march sets off.
