team-building-group-balloonsNorth West based charity The Legacy Rainbow House is offering businesses the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of disabled children, with a new and unique Team Building event.

The Legacy Rainbow House is offering inspirational and moving Team Building events from its centre, The Legacy, in Mawdesley, Lancashire.  The day involves visits to the classroom and therapy rooms to see what the children are learning to do and how the charity’s services are helping so many children to become more independent.

The Legacy Rainbow House teaches disabled children to crawl, feed themselves, stand and even walk in many cases, through a holistic method of teaching called Conductive Education.

Also included is a balloon modelling class in which teams make a balloon model present for the children, and a fun wheelchair relay in the charity’s new wheelchair skate park.

And if this wasn’t motivational enough, The Legacy Rainbow House has secured top positive mental attitude speaker, Norry Ascroft, to host the day.  Norry is hugely experienced in the entertainment industry and was trained by one of America’s leading motivational speakers, and the best-selling author, Jack Canfield.

JMW Solicitors LLP of Manchester is a corporate supporter of the charity, and one of the first companies to participate in the Team Building events.  The company was hugely impressed by the staff and centre at The Legacy and was delighted with the Team Building Day.

Serena Stringfellow, Project Officer at The Legacy Rainbow House says,

“The Team Building events are a way of finding out more about what the charity does to support disabled children.  It also gives participants a taste of the difficulties children with disabilities face on a day to day basis, and how hard they have to work to become more independent.”

Eddie Jones, Head of Clinical Negligence at JMW said,

“As corporate supporters of The Legacy Rainbow House we were delighted to take part in their corporate team building day and experience at first hand the wonderful work they do in rehabilitating and educating the children that attend the centre. All the staff that attended the day found it to be extremely rewarding as well as a fun experience and it helped everyone understand the importance of the work that The Legacy Rainbow House under takes.”

charityStart: Thursday 1 Jul 2010
Time: 12:00 - 16:30

Charities are finding it increasingly harder to collect payment of pledges their supporters have made.

To help improve the cash flow for charities Liverpool Chamber of Commerce has joined up with Credit Management Group UK who have designed a training course aimed to train fundraisers on how to collect payment in a way that doesn’t taint the relationship with their sponsors.

At the end of this training course, fundraisers will be more confident in tackling outstanding pledges, have a strategy in place to contact supports and have standard letters to send out to supporters:

- Attributes required to effectively negotiate payment
- Telephone collections: Overcoming objections, negotiating and closing calls
- Negotiating techniques: How to get paid more quickly without effecting the relationship with the supporter
- Active listening: How to use effective listening skills to influence the supporter
- Using leverage to get paid: Using the charities mission effectively as leverage
- Collection Letters: Impact, wording and timing
- Collection Strategy

Testimonial:
“We found the course very informative and specifically tailored to meet the needs of a charity. It was delivered in an informal and humorous manner, whilst at the same time remaining very professional.”
Janine Drew - Fundraising Manager, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

SkillWorks funding may be available to help (up to 60% funding) is available for eligible companies. Contact Blue Orchid 0151 284 7728 for more information.

plum_macroThis June, ‘Clatterbridge your cancer centre’ & Radio Merseyside want you to turn blue!

It’s as simple as it sounds, we want local companies to turn blue for a day or even a week to raise funds towards research and treatment into male cancers. Between 14-18 June, you can dress in blue, hold a raffle or world cup sweepstake, turn the building blue, have fun in the office… there are so many ways you can help to raise awareness while raising vital funds for local cancer patients.

Prostate cancer kills one man every hour in the UK and is the most common cancer in men, whilst testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15-44.

By taking part in Blue Week you’ll learn how to look out for the signs and know the symptoms, helping to save the lives of more dads, husbands, brothers, sons and friends.
