This course is an ideal qualification for those starting out in a procurement role or as a grounding in purchasing and supply practices.

Course Overview

Aim:
The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply has been contributing to the development of people in purchasing and supply for many years.  Now, this new Level 2 Certificate has been designed to aid anyone who would like to not only develop and improve their skills in the workplace, but achieve a recognised qualification too.  This certificate benefits not only the individual but also the company; it could mean cost savings and quality improvements in the workplace.

On completion of this qualification, students will be able to:

• Use confidently the language and terminology used by professional purchasers
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the purchasing process
• Explain the contribution of purchasing to achieving organisational objectives
• Interpret a range of information found in typical purchasing situations
• Accept greater responsibility for sourcing decisions within timescales and organisational frameworks
• Make credible assessments of the tactical options available within a defined purchasing process.

  • Tuition: Monday 15th & 29th March (9.00 – 17.00)   Exam: Thursday 8th April (11am)
  • Tuition: Tuesday 4th & 19th Wednesday May (9.00 – 17.00)  Exam: Thursday 27th May (11am)
  • Tuition: Thursday 12th & 26th July (9.00 – 17.00)    Exam: Thursday 5th August (11am)

Two days

The role and scope of purchasing
- Systems and procedures in purchasing
- Working with suppliers
- The importance of purchasing contracts

Examination:
Monthly dates scheduled

Assessment:
1 hr computer based exam (40 multiple choice)

£549.00 + VAT (inc 1 year CIPS membership fee, lunch on training days and exam fee)

CIPS Taster Day And Enrolment

Layout 1Liverpool Chamber of Commerce is now an approved Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) study centre.

We are hosting a CIPS taster day at 9am on 8 July at Liverpool Chamber so you can find out more.

CIPS is the professional body representing the purchasing and supply management profession, with more than 45,000 members in more than 150 countries round the world. Its professional programme exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity throughout the profession.

Completion of the graduate diploma leads to full membership of the institute and the recognised status of MCIPS.

Purchasing and supply professionals are a valuable assets to any company, especially when highly trained and qualified. CIPS qualifications are internationally recognise and help people make the most of their career whether just starting out or have been professional for some time.

Tutor, Sue Rashid (MCIPS) explained: “Correct purchasing and supply can bring three benefits to a business, adding value by getting the product to market quicker, eliminating waste by removal of duplication or excess stock. Bringing an obvious contribution to the bottom line and that’s why it’s good for business in the present environment.”
